Eighteen Visions formed in Orange County in October 1995 — first under the name “Macabre” — and began playing local shows the following year.

Early years

The band took shape around vocalist James Hart and drummer Ken Floyd, with the lineup shifting through its earliest releases. They became part of a fertile Orange County hardcore and metalcore scene, issuing early material before a 7″ single and the full-length that put them on the map.

Rise

Their 2000 album Until the Ink Runs Out established them as a significant name in the hardcore and metalcore world, followed by heavy touring and festival dates. Over the records that followed, the sound moved from metalcore toward a more melodic, alternative-metal direction.

Breakup and reunion

The band broke up in April 2007, less than a year after a major-label debut. After more than a decade away, they reunited in 2017 and announced a new album, XVIII, via Rise Records.
